Nishga Girl

The Nishga Girl is the heartwarming and illustrated story of the close friendship between Judo Jack Tasaka and Eli Gosnell, a Nisei boat builder and Nisga'a chief before, during, and after WWII.

Light at a Window

Asian Voices and Collected Voices are currently being used throughout the Toronto District school board. In an effort to engage the Yonsei (4th generation Japanese Canadians) the Foundation has released two of a trilogy of manga books on Nikkei history (Nikkei Manga-gatari: The Sword, The Medal and the Rosary, 2013, illustrated by Kenji Iwata and Light at a Window, 2015, illustrated by Yukina Takeuchi). The first book on Issei is about the exploits of a Japanese Canadian soldier fighting in World War I and is a joint project of the National Association of Japanese Canadians and the Foundation. The second book continues the story of the Japanese Canadians with the second generation.

The Hastings Park Foundation also sponsored the 1995 National Association of Asian Pacific Educators Conference in Toronto, the Beach School (an independent school), the Japanese Language School Speech Contest, and various Asian Canadian theatre projects such as the fu-Gen Asian Canadian Theatre Company.
